During the summer months, (from mid-May through mid-August) residence lodgings are available for up to 5000. For a richly unusual environment and experience in or near South Bend, Indiana, treat yourself and your guests to Palais Royale at Morris Performing Arts Center, a restored Vaudeville House! The Palais Royal Theatre, established in 1921, was part of the Orpheum theatre chain. As such, the interiors were a marvelous festival, a riot of colors and styles, perfect for a banquet or party. J.S. Aroner, the Chicago architect who designed the Palais, had the notion of creating an environment in which all guests might feel like they were members of royalty. European stylings are expressed throughout — everything from the Baroque and Spanish Renaissance periods to Greco-Roman, and even a touch of Art Deco might be found in these finely detailed showplaces found while entering the theatre itself.

Once host to such greats as Amos and Andy, Houdini and Frank Sinatra, the Palace would eventually become the home of premier showings of films during the 40’s, 24-hundred people seated within, and as many thousands standing outside in hopes that they might catch a glimpse of the Hollywood stars. As television brought entertainment into the homes, though, the Palace’ attendance suffered, until 1959, when the board voted to demolish this amazing landmark. E.M. Morris then purchased the property, and resold it to the city for one dollar, preserving it for future generations. It is in her honor that it is now called the Morris Civic Auditorium and is available to your group as one of the finest Indiana banquet facilities, drawing groups from the Chicago area, Gary, Fort Wayne, and of course South Bend.

In 1998, with Morris’ Palais in a bad state of disrepair, the theatre began a restoration and renovation that concluded two years later, opening the Morris Performing Arts Center at the millenium, with a state-of-the-art stage house, coupled with interiors which were restored to to their original magnificence. Today, the Morris PAC is restored to its previous prominence, hosting some of the biggest names in the business. Every sort of performer, form pop, rock, country and Christian music to Broadway shows and comedians, makes a stop at the Morris. The South Bend Symphony and Southold Dance Theater are now home at the Morris as well.

This amazingly rich piece of history is available for all sorts of Indiana wedding receptions, gatherings, events, conventions and performances.
